Inspiration Wednesdays : Sarah Joncas!

"Crow Charmer" by Sarah Joncas
Hey everybody! Today I'd like to share with you an artist Richard found online a few weeks ago which I think is very inspiring!
Her name is Sarah Joncas :) She is an traditional oil painter who is located in Toronto, Canada!

"Little China Girl" by Sarah Joncas
What draws me to her paintings is her beautiful, creepy, and sometimes even morbid of women in a surreal setting. I love the soft look of her oils, and the thought provoking faces and settings she creates.
"La Llorona" by Sarah Joncas
She works well with creating light and dark settings, I really love her use of color, and the long beautiful hair she paints too! One thing I always love myself ^^
"Angel" by Sarah Joncas
You can see here what I mean very well about the use of color, the wonderful placement of cool blues on one cheek, the small freckles, and the illuminated hair floating ... its all superb!

"Rapunzel's Tower" by Sarah Joncas
"Into Her Blues" by Sarah Joncas
You can see more of her extensive collection of art on her website here!: Sarah Joncas Art
If you know anymore about this artist, feel free to add comments below! :D

I found Christiane through Deviantart, thinking at first I had stumbled upon a photograph...but through closer inspection I realized that these were in fact absolutely incredible oil paintings.

As a beginner to more realistic portraits finding her is an incredible inspiration to me. She works to precisely to create not only absolutely stunning paintings, but with her own imagination and her own fantasy interlocked within them.

The way she captures ever strand of hair, just look at the work on that cloth! Everything is superbly done to the highest standards. If I ever was to get a person to sit down and teach me "Right!! This is how you paint proper!"...it would be her.

"Luminous" oil on canvas by Christiane Vleugels

Christiane is a true inspiration to me for her infallable note to lighting, realism, stunning proportions, imagination, technique and beauty. I think I have said, "I cant bare to look at these anymore!!" so many times while writing this post because she is SO good, its hard to watch :D

Whats more is I think Christiane should have FAR more support than she does!

Busy Week, New Projects!

Hey everyone! I know I have been so bad at updating my blog this week. Painting with Planties, Inspiration Wednesdays, its all gotten away from me! Mostly due to the fact I have gotten crazy amounts of news this week - and I have been going through the motions trying to get my brain to keep up.
So! I will splurge out to you my news, the posts I missed, and all the rest :D Because so much good luck and fortune has come my way!

To Begin:
You all may know I am having a free giveaway of 2 archival signed prints of a painting of the winners choice right now on my Facebook! I was really lucky through the share of Tammy Mae Moon to be seen by the creative director of The Forgotten Goddess! She asked me to send some paintings to her for a show in Hollywood at the end of March!! Talk about pressure :P

I had just started my next Bird Girl, with the same gorgeous model as my Rebirth girl - Michelle. She was originally supposed to be a Bird Girl, before my tangent with my deer painting. I picked out her bird to be a Golden Eagle... which I am now trying to rush and finish to send to the Forgotten Goddess asap!!
Painting With Planties:
close up work in progress shot of Eagle Girl
Heres a little sneak peak for my missed Painting with Planties! If I pull it off she should be really beautiful :D And in time for my Giveaway! So you could possibly win this print too ^^

More News

Since I needed to get Rebirth ready to send right away I took it to my art supplier Martin - who did a beautiful job framing her

Me and the painting at my art table!
just love the dark swirly frame, compliments her well i think
and finally a signature of mine that looks normal! woot!
When I was there he expressed how much he liked the painting and said I could have an art exhibit at his gallery sometime this year perhaps! Which would be my own solo show right in the center of Malmö! How amazing!

Which leads me to my -

Inspiration Wednesday

This week I was actually inspired by my models. Especially during this time trying to think of a collection to paint and put together for my show, I have met some really cool people! They are my true inspiration this week, as they help me come up with ideas, deal with my crazy reference sketches I send them and are all around really sweet people:

"Another Time" self portrait by Lauren Peralta
Lauren is a fantastic photographer who has agreed to lend me some photos of her - and even take one for a big piece I am thinking about. I was really chuffed to be able to speak to her about my projects and got a luck break in that we have a common friend, Amy Fries, whom I was friends with in high school and is now a fashion designer in the states...photographer, fashion designer, and now painter :P Small world. Just look at that tatoo! Absolutely gorgeous. Shes going to be a super amazing lady to paint.

Lakshmita Indira, self portrait
Next would be the beautiful Mita, whom I found through my blog here! I saw her photograph and invisioned such a beautiful close up portrait of her - perhaps dark earthy style - just look at those beautiful bambi eyes! Ive got some good ideas cooking up in my head for this...youll be seeing this shortly I hope :D

Michelle! ^^
And ofc a big shout out to Michelle, my model for Rebirth and Eagle girl whos been bumming around with me for quite some time and I will probably use again in the future as she has such a beautiful face I am always inspired by it :D <3

Conclusion

With the show in Hollywood, an art show over Easter with the Skurup art group, and a solo show in Malmö, I have my year pretty much packed for as long as I can see it at this moment.
Wish me luck with all the stuff Ive got to accomplish, and thank you for all the support so far!!
I hope to get better and better and create a fantastic collection...
which btw will be titled.....
"Fragile Things"

Very me right? I think so. Should be fantastic.

I will be sure to keep you all updated, and until then!
All the best from me :D

Inspiration Wednesdays : Tammy Mae Moon!

Good Evening everyone! Its Wednesday, which means its time to show you an artist who inspires me - in hopes to inspire you a little bit too ^^
Today I want to share with you the beautiful art of - Tammy Mae Moon!

"Deidre of the Sorrows" by Tammy Mae Moon
I found Tammy a year ago when I created this blog and was looking for other painters out there in the blogger world. The moment I found her page, I was in love!
I was quite lost back then in knowing how and what I wanted to paint since it had been such a long time, but when I saw her work it was like she had taken images from my wildest dreams and put them onto canvases so effortlessly! I was an immediate fan, no doubt!

"The Owl Keeper" by Tammy Mae Moon
As many of you know, I am a big fan of painting beautiful surreal women, it is one of my favorite subject matter...and more than that I love mixing them with birds. Well, so does Tammy! She creates brilliantly colored, gorgeous women - often with their own animal spirit. Lucious lips, big eyes...ah. Love it.

"The Phoenix Keeper" by Tammy Mae Moon
Tammy is an acrylic artist living in Kentucky. She finds inspiration in "the people that surround her, popular culture, and ancient stories." One really cool fact about Tammy is that she was a tarot card reader both professionally and personally. She even makes Totem Spirit Drawings, drawing from this talent. She can create a personalized drawing for you of the "roadmap of your soul" using your name. This is something thats definitely high up on my wishlist!!
"Stella-Mer" by Tammy Mae Moon, a Totem Spirit Drawing
You can find out about purchasing your own Totem Spirit Drawing here btw - Moon Spiral Art's Totem Spirit Drawings

Tammy Mae Moon working in her studio!
Tammy is my inspiration this week for her beautiful use of color, subject matter, and thoughtful and consistent contributions to the art world. You cant help but look into the eyes of her paintings and feel moved and inspired to create something just as heartfelt and meaningful.

Thank you Tammy for being my inspiration during my long journey back into art this past year!
I always love seeing your new work, and relishing over the old ^^

Inspiration Wednesdays : Jasmine Becket Griffith!

Hello dear bloggers! Today I'd like to share with you an artist whom I look up to and admire -  amongst my idols - Jasmine Becket Griffith!

Jasmine at her recent show at the Pop Gallery in Flordia!

I found Jasmine quite some time ago while I was going through my art exploration last year when I first started picking up painting again. I instantly fell in love with her big eyed (what I called at the time Baby Doll girls) fantasy paintings - and it even inspired me to go on a baby doll chibi craze of my own :P (for those of you witnessing that at Sketchfest you now know where that came from haha!)
"Alice and Snow White" by Jasmine Becket Griffith. This has definitely been my desktop background at work for a good 2 months :P
"Marie Masquerade" by Jasmine Becket Griffith. This painting is high up on my wish list!!
Jasmine is an acrylic painter who lives in Celebration, Flordia...and you just know only good things could come from living in a town with that name :P Not only can she create flawless beautiful characters, with seamless blending... shes also incredibly friendly! Ive already written to her shyly twice on her Facebook (which you should definitely check out: Jasmine's Facebook!) for advice on masonite panels and brushes, and shes answered back thoroughly and very sweetly. I love approachable artists who really do help others out. So that adds an extra huge thumbs up from me!

"Looking Glass Queens" by Jasmine Becket Griffith. Now that framed mirror. Is awesome.
For a girl like me, painting after work and trying my hardest to be a part of a community of artists - looking over to Jasmine who has an amazing following on all social media outlets, countless portals to shop from, several functions and shows,  and what would appear to me a well rounded business... she really is my idol. Its one thing to be a painter, which clearly she can do. Its a whole other thing to know how to market yourself and truly be involved and noticed in the fantasy art world.
Whatever shes done, shes done it right. And I am in wonderous awe!

"Portrait of Ophelia" by Jasmine Becket Griffith

Close up of "Portrait of Ophelia" by Jasmine Becket Griffith. Those eyes! So so gorgeous!
In my dream world, Id hijack - politely :D - Jasmine away for some tea and I would pick her brain for hours from everything from technique, business, her whole story. She's even going to be in my home state of Maryland this November! I dont know if I'll make it - but to all of you Marylanders out there reading this shell be at Faerie Con in Baltimore! I definitely recommend going to see her even though I'll be green with envy up here in the Nordic lands ^^

"Alice Enchanted" by Jasmine Becket Griffith
So heres your Inspiration this week! A huge idol to me, with a warm heart and an amazing talent. She has thousands of stunning paintings so please check out her home page: Strangeling and fill yourself up with some uber inspiration yourself ^^ I know she has for me many a time!

Have a great rest of the working week :D!

Inspiration Wednesdays : Lori Earley

"Frozen" oil on board by Lori Earley
This week for my Wednesday Inspiration, I'd love to share with you a recent artist Ive come across - the very talented: Lori Earley

"The Wish" oil on linen by Lori Earley
This artist was introduced to me accidently by my friend Michelle Izzard - I saw she had followed her on twitter and I had to check her out! I was amazed by the incredible detail, imaginative proportions, and the fantastic color this artist had. And the best part is: shes a traditional artist.
Doesnt get better than that!!
close up of "Regret" oil on board by Lori Earley
Just have a glimpse of some of her paintings up close - the skin, the eyes, the lips are all immaculate but with such a cool spin to it. She plays amazingly with lighting, creating dynamic pieces anyone could easily say "Yes, now thats how painting should be."
"Leila" oil on board by Lori Earley
Lori is a professional traditional oil painter who was born in New York. She describes her work as a  "fusion of personal experiences and influences- moody atmospheres, victorian-inspired couture, and timeless elements all laced with clandestine symbolism."
She paints on wood boards or on Italian imported linen canvases and says her paintings can take anywhere from a month to 6 months to complete! Very amazing dedication I say!
"The Wait" oil on board by Lori Earley

Lori with the painting "The Wait" - look how massive it is!
You can see more of her work, and order prints from her all from her own website: Lori Earley
Thanks Lori for being great inspiration! Keep up the awesome work! :D

Inspiration Wednesdays : Annie Stegg

Hey everyone :) Today for Inspiration Wednesday I'd like share with you an acrylic artist I who inspires me greatly - Annie Stegg!

"Pearl Ryukin" by Annie Stegg
When I first discovered her paintings on deviantart I was just blown away someone could achieve such amazing depth, color, and smoothness with a traditional medium. I have fallen in love with all of her paintings!
"Hidden" by Annie Stegg
Though I havent worked up the courage to talk to her yet (:P) - I can tell you that the very old classical feeling to her paintings is something I personally aspire to try in the future. Theres something so porcelain doll, and almost dark in atmosphere in her work that leaves me breathless.

"Rejoice" by Anne Stegg
You know I love anything with birds, twigs, and flowers :O Almost like an old renaissance painter, there is a smooth oil-like effect to her work.
"Black Moor" by Annie Stegg
Annie Stegg is a traditional painter who uses mediums such as acrylics, oils, color pencils, and water colors. She resides in Georgia, U.S.A :)
You can visit her home website: http://www.anniestegg.com/ and her Etsy shop: Annie Stegg Illustrations

Thanks Annie for inspiring all of us with your magnificent paintings! Keep up the great work, cant wait to see whats next! :D
